SAVR is an Android app that tries to prevent car accidents by raising awareness of bad driving behaviour. Powered by Estimote beacons and NodeJS on Heroku the app tracks when a user is driving a car, and punishes them for texting while driving. The app automatically transfers a fine to a pot for every transgression, building on a pot that can be used to donate to a good cause or build up a savings account for a loved one.
Engange is a mobile app that facilitates emotional engagement in advertising. Using QR codes and a simple mobile app the team combined PayPal, Braintree, and Estimote to allow anyone to interact with an advert anywhere. Helping organisations to engage audiences out-of-home to support their cause.
Paceifier is an Android app that tracks the driving behavior of your children. Combining the speed, acceleration, and aggressive breaking, the app is able to automatically add and subtract money from a pot that can then be transferred to the child when good behavior is shown, or to a charity if not. Powered by Rails, Javascript and Android, Paceifier connects rewarding children for proper driving with paying for good causes.

BattleHacks are full of 24+ hours of awesome stuff. In general, on Day 1 registration opens, you arrive, scope and share skills, create teams, meet judges, and then our gong hits and hacking begins. Add gourmet food, food and more food. Hack through the night, or grab a nap, beer break, and maybe even a massage or two. On Day 2, we have rehearsals, more food, and hack till you hear our gong, signaling the end of hacking! Teams present their apps, judging occurs and prizes are awarded.
